A RADICAL IDEA

I have a radical idea.
It came to me when I was drifting to sleep, a small patch of dribble bleeding into my pillow:

We want our collaboration to be unique and powerful. We want to attract an audience who think our concept is cool. We want to challenge ourselves, both technically and creatively. In order to achieve these ambitions and to help bind the films together into a unified artistic statement, should we...
SHOOT ALL THE FILMS IN SUPER 8 ??

  1. I'm not so keen.

It's a fucking good idea, but i think it should have been decided on to begin with, as the stories most probably need to be partly tailored around the medium.
Also, it's quite pricey to develop.

It would be amazing for something else, or perhaps if this works, a concept film around that medium.

Perhaps i'm talking slightly from the perspective that mine wouldnt work :)

    SORRY to be a downer!

  2. A noble idea,
though I'd be worried some people might be unmotivated to go through the procedures to get it done.

Personally I think Über 8 has a nice look, but was thinking of going with something different for my part.

    I like 16:9

  3. I think it would be a great idea and i would be really keen, but perhaps for our next project. if we had tailored our project at this from the start it would probably be better though. shooting at night with super8 and not having playback makes me nervous.

these are the kind of ideas we need to come up with. It would make our collection of shorts much stronger if we could say "15 independant filmmakers make a collection of super8 films"

  5. The people have spoken.
And I agree. The diversity is something good. And it is interesting to see each director's decisions play out.
    On we go.

  6. I've always believed the shooting format could play a big part in tying these films together as a single entity rather than a collection of shorts and something like Super 8 would have been perfect.
